Tk5000 proposes as entry fee in the Secretariat

The Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs has proposed Tk 5,000 annually as entry fee for the secretariat.
A letter has been sent to the Ministry of Finance in this regard recently.
It has been proposed to determine the entry fee in the case of other than the officials working in the secretariat and the authorized persons of the offices and organizations under the respective ministries. According to the proposal, fee will be fixed for one year and an access card will be issued for one year in exchange of fee.
Private individuals will have to pay Tk 5,000 as annual entry fee.
Apart from this, it has proposed to fix the entry fee of Tk 3,000 per year for government officials and employees other than
the authorized persons of departments and organizations under the ministries and Tk 2,500 taka per year for the Chairmen of district, upzilla parishad and municipal mayors.
The proposal also said that if a card of government official’s is lost, damaged or unusable for any other reason, it would be needed Tk 2,000 to get a replacement card again.
Besides, a fee has to be paid in case of entry of private vehicles to the Secretariat. In this case, the maximum annual fee will be Tk 10,000 per annum.
Mentioning the reasons for fixing the fee, the Public Security Division said in the letter that this proposal has given to realize the operation and maintenance cost as the department concerned has to spend for setting up security systems and various management equipments in the secretariat.
The Ministry of Finance is reviewing the proposal of the Public Security Division.
When asked about the proposal, the Joint Secretary of the Public Security Division (Additional Charge-Secretariat Security Branch) Md. Feroze Uddin Khalifa declined to comment on the matter.
Earlier in the letter sent by the Public Security Division to the senior secretaries/secretaries of all ministries and departments, it is said that the Bangladesh Secretariat is the highest administrative center of the country and a highly protected important establishment.
There are 11 big and small buildings and six canteens on 17.53 acres of land. About 20-25,000 people including important persons, officials/employees, members coming various meetings and visitors visit the Secretariat every day. Besides, 4-6,000 vehicles enter the Secretariat daily.
