Farmers benefit from early vegetable cultivation using modern technology in Ishwardi

Early winter vegetable cultivation has been going on in Ishwardi for several years. And by using modern technology in early vegetable cultivation, good yield of vegetables is being obtained at the beginning of the season. Farmers are benefiting financially. Farmers of Ishwardi are now busy in caring for carrots, cauliflower and cabbage in advance of winter. Many villages in Ishwardi are now known as ‘Sabji Palli’ for the cultivation of vegetables. Pure vegetables and herbs in the rural fields of Ishwardi.
Apart from good yield in early vegetable cultivation, farmers are also getting expected prices in the market. In order to produce toxic free, healthy and environment friendly vegetables, the cultivation of early vegetables has started in different villages of Ishwardi. The agriculture department said that the cultivation area is gradually increasing as the cultivation of early winter vegetables is profitable.
Abdul Bari alias Kofi Bari, a farmer of Ishwardi who won the National Medal in Kopi, said, “I am cultivating cauliflower, cauliflower and cabbage to feed people with poison-free vegetables.” Hopefully, the cauliflower and cauliflower have started to sprout by now. The price is good in the market. Within a month, I will remove the plantation from the land and cultivate it again. I can sell vegetables worth 8 to 10 lakh taka from early cultivation.
Vegetable wholesalers said that at the beginning of the season, cauliflower was sold at Tk 80 per kg and cabbage at Tk 70 per kg. Now Cauliflower is being sold at Tk 40 per kg and cabbage at Tk 20-25 per kg. Although it is not fully wintered now, the size and yield of the early coppice is much better than other years. Farmers are benefiting from this.
According to the sources of Upazila Agriculture Extension Directorate, this time the limit of vegetable cultivation in the upazila is 3 thousand 225 hectares, but it has been cultivated in much more land. Out of this, 2 thousand hectares of land have been planted with early vegetables.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Mita Sarkar said, cauliflower, cabbage and tomato, radish and carrot are grown among the early vegetables. Cultivation of early cauliflower and cabbage is done more. Short term vegetable cultivation is helping the farmer to become financially self-sufficient faster. Cultivation is increasing day by day due to good price of early cauliflower and cabbage in the market.
