BNP leader murder Case filed against 9 policemen

A case has been filed against nine policemen including the former commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Md Shamsuddin on charge of killing a BNP leader named Ainur Rahman Mukta in the police custody in 2015, after seven years of the incident.
On Wednesday (November 16), Mukta’s wife Morjina Rahman (50) filed a case through a lawyer in the Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court.
She claimed that her husband was killed by torture in the police custody.
The names of four people including the RMP Commissioner Shamsuddin are mentioned in the case.
The names of others in the application are Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Boalia Police Station, Noor Hossain Khandkar, Inspector of City Intelligence Branch (DB) Ashikur Rahman and Sub-Inspector (SI) of Boalia Police Station Touhidul Islam.
According to the application of the case, on January 1, 2015, the police filed a case with Boalia police station against Ainur Rahman Mukta, the Joint Secretary of Ward No. 14 of Rajshahi City Corporation BNP and husband of Morjina Rahman.
In that case, Mukta was arrested on January 27. After arrest, he was physically and mentally tortured in police custody. Later that day he was sent to jail by the court. Jail authorities took the seriously injured Mukta to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead.
Confirming the matter, plaintiff’s lawyer Mainul Ahsan Panna said, Morjina’s husband was tortured to death after being arrested in a political case. So she filed a case under the Custodial Death Act. The court accepted the plea, but made no order. Later the court will order in this regard.
