Japan’s Mihara wins first figure skating GP gold

Reigning Four Continents champion Mai Mihara of Japan took her first Grand Prix (GP) gold after edging American teenager Isabeau Levito at the MK John Wilson Trophy in Sheffield on Sunday.
Mihara, 23, led the women’s short program on Saturday and kept her top position after a smooth free skating on Sunday, grabbing her first Grand Prix gold medal with a total score of 217.43 points.
Levito was only 1.69 points behind as the 15-year-old world junior champion took the silver medal in 215.74 points.
Anastasiia Gubanova of Georgia was third in her debut at the ISU Grand Prix with a score of 193.11 points.
