World Pneumonia Day in dists

Medicines were distributed among the poor people including distressed students in Feni to mark the World Pneumonia Day organised by National Patient Welfare Society on Saturday.
On the occasion of World Pneumonia Day last Saturday on behalf of the Feni district branch of the National Patient Welfare Society, the only organization to implement good treatment for all people in Bangladesh, a discussion meeting and free medicine distribution The programme was was held under the chairmanship Dr. Shahadat, Advisor of the organization. Dr. Muhammad Mahtab Hossain Majed, prominent researcher and founder of National Patient Welfare Society of Bangladesh, was present as the chief guest.
The central member of the organization, Dr. Muhammad Motaher Hossain, prominent social worker Parvez Mahmud Sumon were present as special guests. District branch member Muhammad Rafiqul Islam Bhuyan was also present as the member secretary of Noakhali district branch, Muhammad Abdul Mannan, member secretary of Chittagong district branch, Anwar Hossain Sumon.
Sr. Staff Reporter from ( Kishoreganj) adds: The World Pneumonia Day was observed to raise awareness about pneumonia as a public health issue and help prevent millions of child deaths caused by the disease each year on Saturday .
In Kishoreganj, Civil Surgeon ( CS) Office including Kishoreganj 250- beded General Hospital have chalked out elaborate programmes including a rally, discussion marking the world Pneumonia day in a befitting manner.
Pneumonia sickens 155 million children under 5 and kills 1.6 million each year across the world. This makes pneumonia the number one killer of children under 5, claiming more young lives than AIDS, malaria, and measles combined.
According to national survey conducted in 2008, some 50,000 children under five die each year in Bangladesh due to pneumonia although it is a curable and treatable disease.
BSS from Habiganj, adss: The World Pneumonia Day was observed in the district Saturday as elsewhere in the country and across the globe to create awareness and educate people to combat Pneumonia disease.
World Pneumonia Day is a global event observed every year on 12 November to create awareness and educate people to combat Pneumonia disease, world’s biggest infectious killer of adults and children and responsible for the majority of death of children below five around the world.
The slogan of the day is ‘Asun Pneumonia pratirodh kari, Pneumonia lakkhan dekhamatra sisuke nikatastha hospital nin’ (‘Let’s prevent pneumonia, take the child to the nearest hospital as soon as symptoms of pneumonia are seen’.Organized by Habiganj Civil Surgeon Office on the occasion, a rally was brought out from the premises of the Habiganj 250-bed Adhunik Zilla Sadar Hospital which paraded the important streets and ended at same place.
