Nearly 200 dengue deaths this year

Bangladesh recorded nearly 200 deaths from dengue fever this year.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) data at least six more patients died in the mosquito born disease in the past 24 hours till Saturday morning across the country.
The latest fatality has taken the total death toll to 199 since January.
Among the latest deceased, three died in Dhaka city, two in Rajshahi and one in Chattogram, the DGHS data showed.
It also said that a total of 918 dengue patients were admitted to health facilities across the country in the period.
Among those, 530 were reported from Dhaka city and 388 from other places outside the capital.
The viral disease forced 47,670 people to get admitted to hospitals since January.
The dengue yearly death toll hits all-time high this year as per the data.
The DGHS data showed that a total of 31,312 patients of this year’s total hospitalisation were reported in the capital.
Meanwhile, a total of 9,646 people were hospitalised and 58 people died in the first 12 days of November.,
It showed a rising trend in dengue patients and fatalities.
DGHS data suggested that the number of hospitalised dengue patients was 21,932 were reported in October, followed by 9,911 in September 3,571 in August, 1,571 in July, 737 in June, 163 in May, 23 in April, 20 each in February and March, and 126 in January.
Among the deceased from dengue, 119 died in Dhaka city, one each in Narsingdi and Madaripur districts, 50 in Chattogram division, 10 in Khulna, seven in Barishal, five in Mymensingh and six in Rajshahi divisions, the DGHS press release showed.
