BUET student Fardin Noor Parash (24) might have been murdered in an area of the capital city of Dhaka, said Mohammad Haron Or Rashid, Additional Police Commissioner of DMP and also Chief of DB while expressing his opinion.
He said this at a press conference organized at Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) media center on Saturday at noon.
In response to a question, DB chief Harun said, “I think that Fardin might have been killed somewhere in Dhaka city based on the data analysis of Fardin’s mobile phone and the people he talked with were from different places. All in all, I cannot say anything concrete for the sake of investigation. When asked if there is any drug-related issue behind this murder, DB Additional Police Commissioner Mohammad Haron said, “We are not saying that the murder was due to drugs.” Or not saying that the number one accused in the case whom we have arrested (Bushra) is the key person to the murder. We are analyzing various things around. In response to the another question whether the DB operation is going on in the Charpara slum of Demra of the capital, he said, why only Charpara slum for the sake of investigation, we have gone to Narayanganj, the DB team is working everywhere including Demra and Khilgaon.
It has been revealed in various media that Fardin was addicted to drugs. When asked if the police have any such information, the DB chief said, “We have never said that he (Fardin) went to Charpara and died due to drugs.” Our team is working on all the issues. In fact, we are yet to uncover the root cause of the incident.
Even after five days of the recovery of Fardin’s body, the police have not been able to unravel the main mystery of the murder. Multiple units including police, elite force RAB, CID are working to solve the mystery. Meanwhile, hundreds of CCTV footages from different areas are being analysed. The police are also working to identify Fardin’s last location by watching the CCTV footage and using information technology.
“We’ve arrested Bushra based on the case filed by Fardin’s father. We’re not saying that she (Bushra) had killed him (Fardin). We’re currently analyzing various information surrounding the case. We’ve taken Bushra into remand to know more about the matter,” Harun said.
Earlier, police recovered Fardin’s body from the Shitalakhkhya River, behind a cotton mill at Siddhirganj, on November 7, three days after he went missing.
On November 8, Sheikh Farhad, a physician at Narayanganj General Hospital where the autopsy was done, said there were several injury marks on Fardin’s head and body.
On Thursday, Fardin’s father Kazi Nuruddin Rana filed the case against his son’s friend Amatullah Bushra, a 3rd year student of East West University, and several unidentified people in connection with the death with Rampura Police Station.
