Sheikh Russel Stadium awaiting inauguration in Rangpur

Awaiting inauguration of Sheikh Russel Stadium in Rangpur at a cost of 38 crore 97 lakh 63 thousand. All infrastructure construction work to convert it into a modern stadium has already been completed. As the stadium was transformed into a modern stadium, there was excitement among the sports fans.
The facade of the old stadium in Islampur (Hanumantala) of Rangpur city was demolished and the modern Sheikh Russel Media Center and its indoor stadium were constructed. In January 2022, the construction work of the project was completed by the capital’s Technip Corporation at a cost of Tk 38 crore 97 lakh and 63 thousand taka.
According to related sources, Sheikh Russel Media Center at a cost of Tk 10 crore 16 lakh 28 thousand, Sheikh Russel Indoor Stadium at a cost of Tk 12 crore 51 lakh 27 thousand, Sheikh Russel Swimming Pool at a cost of Tk 10 crore 69 lakh 41 thousand and 5 crore 60 lakh were implemented by the National Sports Council. The construction of Palichra Sheikh Russel Mini Stadium has been completed at a cost of 67 thousand taka. Now just waiting for the opening.
Apart from this, under the project of further development, Rangpur Sheikh Russel Complex has 5 lanes on the northeast side of 25 m. Swimming pool has been constructed. In this two-storied pavilion building, common gallery, internal boundary wall, underground reservoir, water treatment plant plan with 6 inch diameter deep tube well has been provided and constructed. The construction of this project has been done by the contracting company Technip Corporation of Dhaka through tender.
President of Rangpur District Football Federation and Vice-President of District Sports Association Manzoor Ahmed Azad said, “Rangpur Sheikh Russel Sports Complex and Women’s Cricket Stadium are one of the picture of Rangpur’s overall development.” The construction of the swimming pool here will be open to the public including the players. Director of Bangladesh Cricket Board and General Secretary of Rangpur Divisional and District Sports Association Advocate Anwarul Islam said, “Increasing the quality of players of Rangpur Division and producing good quality players and setting the venue for various national level games in Rangpur is an initiative of the Prime Minister. Expensive state-of-the-art Sheikh Russell Complex has already been completed. This will increase the possibility of having a venue in Rangpur for national level games.
