2 killed, 21 injured as bus overturns in Lohagara

Two bus passengers were killed when a picnic bus overturned at Lohagara on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway. The accident happened at 3:30 am on Friday morning in Adhunagar Haji Rasta Matha area of Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway of the upazila.
The two deceased are Abhijit (34) and Sakhawat Siddique (35). At least 21 other passengers of the bus were injured. The injured are Sujit Barua, Aman Ullah, Shaon, Raju Chowdhury, Saiful Islam, Huayan Rashid, Rajibul Haque, Alamgir, Kamrul, Kajal, Mujibur Rahman, Shivaji, Sourav, Abchar Uddin, Sajib Nath, Akbar Hossain, Biplab, Sanjeev, Amit Das. , Mohammad Akkas and Rubens.
According to witnesses and police, the speeding Saudia bus bound for Cox’s Bazar lost control when it reached the spot. The bus then overturned on the road after hitting a tree on the south side of the highway.
Meanwhile, two passengers of the bus fell under the bus on the spot. 21 passengers were injured.
The locals rescued them and took them to a clinic in Lohagara Sadar where the doctor on duty declared the two passengers dead.
