England defeats India by 10 wickets reaches final

A record-breaking 170-run opening partnership between Jos Buttler and Alex Hales powered England to storm into the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup (WC) 2022 defeating favourites India by 10 wickets in the second semi-final at the Adelaide Oval in Australia on Thursday.
Chasing India’s total of 168 for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs, England coasted home making 170 without any loss when they had 24 balls to spare.
Opener Alex Hales remained unbeaten with 86 runs. His 47-ball stormy innings decorated with seven sixes and four fours. It was Alex’s 13th T20I half century. Alex was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Jos Buttler remained unbeaten with 80 runs. His 49-ball captain’s knock was belted with three sixes and nine fours. It was Buttler’s 20th T20I half-century.
Earlier, India had a sorrow start as opener KL Rahul (5) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Jos Buttler off Chris Woakes when India’s score was just nine.
Opener Rohit Sharma and in-form Virat Kohli repaired the early damage contributing together 47 runs for the second wicket partnership before Rohit Sharma was caught at the long-on by Sam Curran off Chris Jordan when India’s total was 56 for the loss of two wickets.
Sharma made 27 from 28 balls featuring four fours.
Kohli and Hardik Pandya built the most worthy partnership. They scored together 61 runs in the four-wicket stand before Kohli was caught at the short third man by Adil Rashid off Jordan when India’s score was 136 for the loss of four wickets. Pandya hammered a windy 63. His 33-ball innings saw three sixes and three fours. It was Pandya’s third T20I half-century.
Kohli notched up a superb 50. His 40-ball innings was decorated with four fours and a sixer. It was Kohli’s 37th T20I half-century.
After Kohli’s departure, Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant added together 22 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Pant (6) was run out by a joint-effort off Buttler and Jordan when India’s total was 158 for the loss of five wickets. Pandya was hit wicket from a delivery of Jordan when India’s innings came to an end.
Jordan grabbed three wickets in the space of 43 runs, while Adil Rashid and Chris Woakes took one wicket each for 20 and 24 runs respectively.
