DU expels BCL activist temporarily for harassing female student

The Dhaka University administration on Saturday temporarily expelled a student after an inquiry found him involved with harassing of private university female student.
The DU student is Nazmul Alom, an activist of Masterda Surya Sen Hall unit Chhatra League and also a fourth year student of Social Welfare and Research Department of the university.
The student has been asked to show cause within seven working days as to why he should not be permanently expelled from the university.
The university informed the development through a press release sent by Public Relation Office of the university.
“The student has been temporarily expelled for indecent behavior with a
female student of a private university and defaming the dignity of the university,” said in the press release.
On 31 October after midnight, the private university female student of the capital was slapped and harassed in front of Raju Memorial Scripture of the university by Nazmul Alom.
Later, the girl filed a complaint with the proctor’s office and the Vice-Chancellor of DU.
According to the complaint, after birthday celebration of the female student, she was standing in front of the sculpture with her friends and taking pictures. At that time two boys stopped their bike and started questioning us using bad words against her. They teased her and slapped when she protested.
