MV Bay One to launch journey 1 Dec direct to St Martin from Ctg
Kamruzzaman Bablu :
You can sit on a deck chair or sofa and enjoy the music with the pure sea breeze. And if it’s a full moon night – that’s marvelous, the atmosphere of the journey will spread fascination. Even late at night, you will not want to leave the deck.
If you get up early in the morning, you can see the sunrise in the sea.
Yes, all of those will be possible if you plan to go to coral island Saint Martin by the five-star luxury ship MV Bay One from Chattogram directly from 1 December on the Chattogram-Saint Martin route.
Like Cox’s Bazar, the port city of Chattogram has also been directly connected with coral island Saint Martin, and the potential of the country’s tourism industry has further expanded. During the 2020 tourist season, MV Karnaphuli Express between Cox’s Bazar and St Martin and five-star luxury ship MV Bay One between Chattogram and St Martin were launched.
Overcoming various crises including river navigability, Karnaphuli Ship Builders Limited launched the sea routes in 2020 under the banner of ‘Karnaphuli Cruise Line’ which was the demand of tourists and islanders for a long time.
Earlier, tourists had to travel to Teknaf from Chatogram by road and from there by sea to Saint Martin. There were many hassles on the journey of 282 kilometres. The hassle of going to St Martin, 236 kilometers away by sea, has gone with the commissioning of ships. Rather, the extra gain is diverse beauty of the river and the sea.
When MV Bay One leaves the Karnaphuli River estuary and reaches the sea, the large ships in the distance look as if the residents are awake with lights on in multi-story buildings. Goods are unloaded from the ships anchored in the sea even at night. Large ships carrying goods can also be seen beyond the port waters and then Bay One will anchor off St Martin’s Jetty. The jetty cannot accommodate large ships with 7-storey height due to navigational problems. Therefore, with MV Saint Martin Cruise (barge), passengers will be brought to Saint Martin Jetty. In the afternoon, boarding this hall-like barge, tourists can see the entire Prabaldwip, Cheradwip, Ghoradwip and the breathtaking sunset from the ocean. The work of making the barge a modern floating restaurant is also in progress for the comfort of the tourists.
On the return journey, it is time to see the magnificent beauty of the sea in the daylight. You will see the scene of fishermen fishing in trawlers in the deep sea. Passengers can take lunch at the favorite sea view buffet restaurant khaidai at the back of the ship. The monstrous Bay One cuts through the turbulent sea at high speed making the scene like a waterfall. It is impossible to feel the charm if you don’t witness the pleasure of watching the sea while sitting in the sea-view seating space near the front cabin of the ship. Many people don’t miss the chance of standing against the strong wind with their arms stretched out in front of the ship, like the hero and heroine of the film Titanic. When you continue to experience the things, the afternoon turns into twilight and the sun sets in the sea.
This Mitsubishi brand heavy weight ship used to carry passengers to and from the five islands of Tokyo in Japan. Karnaphuli Ship Builders Ltd brought it to Chittagong 2 years ago. Since then, this 400 feet long luxurious 7-story yacht has been carrying tourists on the Chittagong-Saint Martin route.
This ship has 1800 seats with central air condition facilities. There all amenities ranging from elevators and ordinary chairs to luxurious cabins, multiple traditional restaurants, including sea view and rooftop buffet restaurants, ice cream and coffee bars, and brand shops. It has 167 sailors to operate the ship and serve the tourists.
Because it has to cross the Bay of Bengal, this ship with international standard maritime safety has all the safety equipment including life jackets for every passenger and life boats. Especially when there are waves in the sea, two propellers on the two sides of the bottom of the ship are automatically activated to maintain balance. As a result, the ship does not sway even in the face of waves.
MV Bay One departs from Patenga Water Bus Terminal, Chattogram, every Thursday at 10:00pm, and reaches Saint Martin on Friday morning. It departs for Chattogram at 10:00am on Saturday and returns in the evening.
