Faridpur-2 Constituency’s by-polls today

People of the Faridpur-2 constituency are going to vote in the by-polls to be held on today.
The Election commission announced earlier that the electronic voting machines (EVMs)) will be used to cast ballots there.
The voting will start at 8am and will continue till 4pm without any break.
Meanwhile, about 1,052 CCTV cameras have been installed at polling booths.
The Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal and other election commissioners will monitor the election from the Election Commission headquarters in the capital.
Faridpur-2 Constituency consists of Nagarkanda, Saltha and Sadarpur upazilas.
It has some 318,479 eligible voters.
Voting will be held in 806 polling booths in 123 polling stations.
Awami League backed candidate Shahdab Akbar Labu Chowdhury and Bangladesh Khilafat Andolan candidate Md Zainul Abedin Bakul Mia are contesting in the election.
The Faridpur-2 constituency fell vacant with the death of Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, who breathed her last on September 11 at the age of 87.
The Deputy Leader of the Parliament had been admitted to hospital with post-Covid-19 complications two weeks earlier.
