A month-long income tax information and service is starting today (Tuesday) across the country to facilitate taxpayers.
The month-long programme will be launched in the conference room of the National Board o Revenue (NBR), where its Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem will be present.
Return submission procedure and related services will be provided in a festive mood across the country in order to enable taxpayers to file their income tax returns, as the revenue board is not holding tax fair this year too.
The zonal offices of tax will set up special arrangement for providing tax related service during the month-long show on their respective office premises, NBR officials said.
The taxpayers will get services of return submission, E-payment, E-return, bank booth and tax information during the time, they added.
They further said tax offices will open booths on their premises and will remain open until November 30, the deadline for furnishing income tax returns without penalty.
The taxpayers, received TINs before June 30 this year, will have to submit their personal income returns for the tax year of 2022-23 from their designated tax zones during the month.
The comprehensive tax service delivery program aims at developing a tax culture, increasing tax awareness and gaining the trust and confidence of the respected taxpayers, the officials said.
The NBR will also arrange seminar marking ‘Income Tax Day’ on November 30. Like the previous year, the revenue board will provide highest tax-paying card to 141 taxpayers across the country in different categories.
We will provide services to taxpayers and income tax returns will be received uninterruptedly during office hours in 649 circles under 31 tax regions across the country, said a tax official.
He said the taxpayers, like previous years, will get acknowledgement receipt of submission of their tax returns instantly after furnishing the documents.
Taxpayers will also get scope to register and re-register for taxpayer identification numbers electronically from the service booths, he added.
The submission of returns by individual taxpayers has gone up threefold this year, as the revenue board made submission of tax-return receipts mandatory while seeking services from various entities.
Around 3.30 lakh out of around 79 lakh taxpayers submitted their returns in first three months (July-September) of the current fiscal year, according to a data of the NBR.
Tax officials expected a record tax returns this year as the new fiscal measure has made submission of proofs of returns mandatory for availing 38 types of services from public and private entities.
The number of tax returns may jump to 40 lakh this fiscal year from 24 lakh in last year, they added.
