Fire at Narayanganj jute godown

A fire broke out at a jute warehouse in Kadamtala Shitalakshya area in Narayanganj city early Friday.
The fire originated at Messrs Sharmin Jute Balers at about 2:00 am.
Locals said someone kept shouting that the jute warehouse caught fire at midnight. They later went to the spot and informed fire service. On information, nine
firefighting units whisked off to the spot and doused the blaze in four hours of effort, said Narayangaj Fire Service and Civil Defence assistant deputy director Fakhruddin.
“However, a huge amount of jute in the warehouse was sheerly burnt in the fire. One of our fire service personnel sustained injuries while working to put out the fire. The firefighters are still working at the spot to completely extinguish the flame,” he said. The origin of the fire and the extent of damage could not be known yet, the fire service official added.
