Court orders attachment of Evaly’s property
Court Correspondent :
A Dhaka court yesterday ordered attachment of property belonging to e-commerce platform Evaly’s Chairman Shamima Nasrin and its Managing Director and her husband Mohammad Rassel in a cheque dishonour case.
Dhaka’s Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain passed the order after hearing on a petition filed in the court. The court fixed November 16 for submission of the report.
According to the case docket, complainant Mehedi Hasan Khan ordered for different goods including three motorcycles, worth of Taka 8.54 lakh from Evaly on January 23, last year, and paid the money through mobile bank. Evaly was supposed to deliver the goods within 45 days of the order, but the accused did not do that.
Evaly authorities on March 9 of last year, gave complainant a cheque, which Mehedi tried to encash on July 5. However, the cheque was bounced back. Later, on October 14, he sent the accused legal notice and subsequently filed the case on November 28.
The court on February 1 of this year, issued arrest warrant against Rassel and Shamima, and as the law enforcers could not submit the report on executing the order on three hearing dates, the court came up with its latest order.
