Wall collapse kills one in Kapasia

A 9-year-old child died tragically after the mud wall of a house collapsed in Kapasia, Gazipur. His physically challenged elder brother Al Amin (11), their mother and two sisters are under treatment at the Upazila Health Complex. The accident took place in Karihata Union of the upazila on Monday night. The deceased child is the second son of day laborer Belayet Molla of Anisur Ikuria village.
According to family relatives and police station sources, Belayet Molla’s tin house was next to cousin Mansoor’s mud house. As a result of the cyclone, the wall of the mud house collapsed in the rain and fell on the tin house of Belayat. Neighbors rescued Belayet and her family members. Anisur died on the spot. The floor of the mud house went straight to Anis’s neck. He was found dead after the incident. Although the wall collapsed on Al Amin, who was physically challenged, he was injured in several places and survived.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) AKM Golam Morshed Khan said, I went to see the affected family members after receiving the news of the accident. Their treatment has been inquired. Upazila administration will give them financial support.
Kapasia police station officer-in-charge (OC) AFM Nasim said that local people rescued Belajet and his family members after the wall collapsed. A case of wrongful death has been registered in the police station regarding the death of his son.
