BCL calls parents to take their son after torturing
DU Correspondent :
Two leaders of BangladeshChhatra League (BCL) have been accused of torturing a student of Dhaka University (DU) for three hours on Monday midnight for forming a left-wing organization instead of BCL.
They even called the student’s father in the midnight and asked them to come to the campus to receive his son.
The incident took place at Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall of the university.
After hearing the message about their son, the student’s parents moved to the campus from Bogra in the morning. The student was also mentally upset after seeing his mother’s cry.
The victim Samir Sadiq is a third year student of Public Administration
Department of the university and also a residential student of Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall.
The accused are Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall unit BCL Vice-President Ahmed Ullah and Library Affairs Secretary Rizvi. The victim is also their roommate.
“I live in the Hall from first year. I am a member of leftist student body Chhatra Federation but BCL leaders did not know that,” the victim said.
“They interrogated me on Monday night after suddenly seeing some books of Chhatra Federation. At that time, they called my father and asked him to come to the campus and take me,” the victim alleged.
“Parents could not sleep the whole night when they heard the information about me. They left for Dhaka from Bogra early in the morning. Mother burst into tears when she saw me,” Samir added.
The accused denied the allegation. ”I have no involvement with the incident. I did not inform Samir’s family. Someone in the room may have informed,” Ahmad Ullah said.
Emtasur Rahman, victim Samir’s father, told to the media “Around 1:15 am Ahmed Ullah called me and said that my son belongs to banned organization. If political brothers find out it, they will hand over to the police after beating him. Come quickly and take him away.”
Professor Belal Hossain, Provost of the Hall, said, “I informed about the incident. We will investigate into the matter, if we get a written complaint.
