9 fishermen held in Bhairab

A mobile court of Fisheries Department has conducted drives at Shambupur, Lakshmipur, and Jahangirpur areas in old Brahmaputra river in Bhairab of Kishoreganj at least nine fishermen were arrested on Thursday. The mobile court also seized two lakh meters of current nets and 70 ring nets during raids in the Brahmaputra river.
The operation led by Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (AC) land in Bhairab Julhas Hossain Shorab , ordered the seized nets to be burnt and destroyed. Besides, each of the arrested fishermen was fined tk. 2000.
