BGB man killed in Bandarban wild elephant attack

A member of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) was killed and its another member injured in a wild elephant attack in Bandarban on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred at 9 No. Bhallukkhaia area of Naikhongchhari upazila at 8pm.  
The victim has been identified as Abdul Mannan, Nayek Subedar of BGB-11. He was a resident of Chauddagram upazila in Cumilla.
The injured man’s name is Md Touhidul Islam.
According to locals, a team of BGB went to the area to conduct a drive. At that time, a herd of wild elephant attacked them. Abdul Mannan died on the spot while Touhidul was injured.
Naikhongchhari Sadar Union Parishad Chairman Nurul Abchar said BGB members recovered the dead body with the help of local people.
Tantu Saha, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Naikhongchhari Police Station, confirmed the matter to the media and said that the dead body was sent to a hospital for autopsy.
