The situation of dengue is gradually taking an alarming shape of epidemic in the country. The number of cases and deaths is increasing rapidly every day.
Most of the city inhabitants are in serious panic over the situation.
Two more dengue patients died and 857 were hospitalised in the last 24 hours until Monday morning.
Till Monday a total of 96 people died of dengue according to the a Directorate General of Health Services.
Among the latest deaths, one was reported from Dhaka division and another from Khulna division.
The dengue death toll in Dhaka division stands at 54, in Chattogram division it remained static at 34, in Barishal division at five and in Mymensingh division at 1.
In the last 24 hours, 523 new patients were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka and 334 were admitted outside Dhaka.
Currently, 2,015 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka, while other 989 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.
As many as 26,038 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country till Monday while 22,938 patients returned home after recovery since January 1.
