Five workers die due to lightning in Rangpur

Five brickfield workers died and another was injured in lightning strikes in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur district on Tuesday afternoon.
The victims have been identified as Shahadat Hossain, 25, son of one Al Amin, Rashedul Islam, 24, son of one Aytal, and Siam Miah, 20, son of one Sirul, residents of Chaknadi village, and Nazmul Hossain, 18, son of one Badsha Mia, a resident of Dhaperhat Tilakpara village in Sadullapur upazila, and Jabber, son of one Abdul Jalil, a resident of Chaksholagari village in Pirganj upazila in the district.
Kabil union parishad Chairman Robiul Islam confirmed the matter to the media saying that the incident took place in BTC intersection area and all the deceased were working at a brickfield in Chaksholagari village.
Pirganj Police Station officer in-charge Abdul Awal said that police had gone to the spot.
