Bangladesh out of Women’s T20 Asia Cup

Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team were out of Women’s T20 Asia Cup as their last match against minnows the United Arab Emirates Women’s Cricket team was abandoned due to rain at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. Thus, unlucky Bangladesh split points with the low-rated United Arab Emirates.
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Thailand moved into the semi-finals of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup.
India bagged 10 points from six matches, while Pakistan gained 10 points from as many matches. But by virtue of better run rate India took the top spot. Sri Lanka collected eight points from six matches, while Thailand earned six points from as many outings.
On the other hand, defending champions Bangladesh finished fifth bagging five points from six matches.
Meanwhile, Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by five wickets in their last group match at the same venue on the same day.
Electing to bat first, Sri Lanka made 112 off 18.5 overs.
In reply, Pakistan reached the winning target scoring 113 for the loss of five wickets.
Opener Chamira Athapathu of Sri Lanka hit a marvelous 41. His 26-ball innings was laced with nine fours.
Oshadhi Ranasinghe made 26 from 29 balls featuring three fours.
Omaima Sohail of Pakistan captured five wickets in the space of 13 runs. She was adjudged the Player of the Match for her superb bowling.
Tuba Hassan bagged two wickets at the cost of 26 runs, while Nida Dar took one wicket instead of 25 runs.
Later, Nida Dar remained unbeaten with 26 runs. Her 28-ball innings had one four.
Aliya Riaz scored 20 from deliveries including three fours.
Kavisha Dilhari claimed two wickets in the space of 16 runs, while Achini Kulasuriya, Inoka Ranaweera and Oshadi Ranasinghe took one wicket each for 11, 12 and 32 runs respectively.
