55 youths still missing

At least 55 youths from 19 districts are currently missing, who may have links with different militant organisations,” said Commander Khandaker Al Moin, RAB Legal and Media Wing director, at a press briefing in Dhaka on Monday.
The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has released the list of 38 youths from 18 districts who were voluntarily displaced from their homes due to extremism have been identified.
Khandaker Moin said, among the 55 youths, there were four youths missing from Narayanganj, one from Netrakona, one from Noakhali, six from Patuakhali, two from Faridpur, three from Barishal, one from Brahmanbaria, one from Mymensingh, two from Madaripur, seven from Sylhet, one from Sunamganj, 15 from Comilla, one from Khulna, one from Chandpur, two from Jhalokati, one from Jhenaidah, one from Tangail and four from capital.
“We have detailed information about 38 youths, including their names and addresses. Efforts are being made to collect information about the rest. These individuals could cause sabotage in the country,” commander Khandaker Moin said.
According to RAB officials, among the eight youths who went missing from Cumilla on September 1, a youth named Shartaz Islam Niloy, 22, returned to his home in the capital’s Kalyanpur. Based on the information received from Niloy, RAB conducted raids in Munshiganj, Narayanganj and Mymensingh areas on October 6 and arrested 7 people, including 3 people associated with the invitations, supervisors, sheltering activities and 4 youths of the militant organisation.
The detainees gave important and sensational information about the extremist organisation. In continuation of this, on Sunday night, in the joint operation of RAB Headquarters Intelligence Branch and RAB-10 detained Shah Md. Habibullah alias Habib, 32, and Niamat Ullah, 43, from Jatrabari and Keraniganj areas of the capital, Hossain, 22, from Mohammadpur, Rakib Hasnat alias Niloy, 28, from Sutrapur, and Saiful Islam alias Rony alias Zayed Chowdhury, 19, of Noakhali. 5 extremist books, about 300 leaflets and 5 bags were also recovered from the spots, RAB officials said.
One of the arrestees is the alleged financier, involved in the recent disappearances of young men who joined the newly formed “Jama’atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya”, said Commander Khandaker Al Moin on Sunday.
