Eden College admin finds no evidence of sexual harassment

The Eden Mohila College administration could not find any evidence of sexual harassment and torture of its students which came to light after the clash between two fractions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL). But the probe committee found the BCL leaders involved with seat trading in the college.
The administration informed the development through a press release after ending of an investigation singed by College Principal Supriya Bhattacharya.
“There was no evidence of any student being forced into immoral activities,” said in the press release.
They however conceded to the allegation of seat trading. They added in the press release, “The college administration will take further action as per the rules based on the inquiry report regarding seat trading and fighting
incidents and other complaints.” “We have spoken to 1,000 students of the college to verify the truth of the complaint. I have not received any single evidence or source in this regard from anyone,” College Principal Supriya Bhattacharya told to the media.
The investigation process was committed by Prof. Mohammad Ziaul Haque, Prof Kazi Atikuzzaman, Prof Sufia Akhtar and Prof Mehrunnessa Mary.
The two groups of the BCL unit involved with clashes on September 24 to 25 and then the rebel group of it says that their leaders are involved with extortion, seat-trading and forcing female students to commit immoral acts.
While the rebel group alleged that BCL leaders are torturing their juniors and classmates both physically and mentally and forced them to have sexual relationships with party leaders. Besides, sometimes students also threatened to take offensive pictures and make it ‘viral’, if they do not obey of their direction.
Later, BCL has suspended all activities of its Eden Mohila College unit committee and expelled 16 leaders and activists from the organisation for violating the rules after the infightings.
Moreover, twenty one women rights activists of the country demanded a judicial inquiry into the sexual exploitation and torture against BCL Eden College unit leaders on Monday.
They also sought giving exemplary punishment to those involved with forcing students into sexual relationships, under the Prevention and Suppression of Human Trafficking Act, 2012.
