India drub the UAE in Women’s T20 Asia Cup

India Women’s Cricket team drubbed the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Women’s Cricket team by 104 runs in their group match of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet on Tuesday.
Winning in the coin-session, India chose to bat first and piled up a massive total of 178 for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then restricted the UAE to 74 for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs.
India faced an early debacle as they lost their three wickets for 20 runs.
Then, Deepti Sharma and Jemimah Rodrigues repaired the damage contributing together 128 runs in the fourth wicket stand before Deepti Sharma was caught at the long-on by Mahika Gaur off Suraksha Kotte when India’s score was 148 for the loss of four wickets.
Jemimah remained unbeaten with 75. Her 45-ball innings was ornamented with 11 fours. Jemimah was adjudged the Player of the Match for her outstanding batting performance.
Deepti hit a superb 64. Her 49-ball knock was decorated with five fours and two sixes.
Kotte, Mahika Gaur, Esha Oza and Chaya Mughal took one wicket each conceding 14, 27, 27 and 31 runs respectively.
Later, the UAE lost their early three wickets for just five runs.
One-down Kavisha Egodage and Khushi Sharma put on together 58 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Khusi Sharma was caught at the long-on by Rodrigues off Dayalan Hemalatha when the UAE’s score was 63 for the loss of four wickets.
Kavisha remained unbeaten with 30 runs. She hit three fours using 54 balls.
Khushi made 29 from 50 balls including three fours.
Rajeshwari Gayakwad bagged two wickets at the cost of 20 runs, while Hemalatha took one wicket for eight runs.
