BR launches Dhaka-Tongi DEMU train service

Staff Reporter :Bangladesh Railway (BR) launched Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) train service on the Dhaka-Tongi-Dhaka route on Tuesday.Railway Minister Mujibul Haque inaugurated the DEMU train service at a function at Tongi Railway Station in Gazipur.Acting Secretary of Railway Ministry Mohammad Monsur Ali Shikdar presided over the function.Each train, having six coaches, can make two trips a day on the Dhaka-Tongi route. A DEMU train has the capacity to carry around 600 passengers.
