Indian HC calls on President
UNB, Dhaka :
Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran on Thursday made a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban.
During the meeting, the Indian High Commissioner mainly talked about the President’s upcoming visit to India.
Pankaj Saran said the people of India are eagerly waiting to receive the President, president’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim told UNB after the meeting.
The Indian envoy said the visit will further strengthen the friendly relations between the two neighboring countries.
He also informed the President that the bill relating to the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) has been tabled in the Indian Rajya Sabha.
President Abdul Hamid said Bangladesh attaches the highest importance to its relations with India and is fully committed towards deepening the emotional bonds and further strengthening the friendly bilateral relations.
He expressed the hope that the bill relating to LBA would be expeditiously passed by the Rajya Sabha and subsequently by the Lok Sabha.
The President thanked Indian President Pranab Mukherjee for the invitation.
