The price of chicken has scored double century while price of green chilli has gone beyond the purchasing capacity of the consumers.
After visiting kitchen markets in capital it was seen that the price of boiler chicken increased by Tk40 per kg and being sold at Tk 200, whereas one week ago it was Tk 160-165 and by Tk 30-40 of Pakistani Cock and being sold at Tk 300-320 while one week ago it was at Tk 280-290.
About the increase of the price of chicken, Khilgoan businessman Mizanur Rahman said that the price of chicken in the market was in rising trend. Besides, the fuel price hike has accelerated it.
He said the price of broiler chicken has been regularly increasing in wholesale market. If it continues the price of broiler chicken will reach Tk 250 within short time.
Kaewan Bazar chicken trader Md Faridul Islam claimed supply shortage was the responsible for broiler chicken price hike.
On the other hand, per dozen eggs is being sold at Tk 145 while one week earlier it was Tk 132.
Md Jantu Mia, an egg trader from capital Karwan Bazar said chicken price hike has impacted egg rate. As a result the price of egg is soaring.
Moreover, the green chilli is being sold at Tk 220-240 per kg which makes the consumers disappointed as well as angry also.
Regarding the price of green chillies, Karwan Bazar trader Liton said that the rain has caused a lot of damage to the green chillies. Because of this, the supply of pepper has decreased in the market. The effect of which is seen in the price. But such price of pepper will not last long.
Furthermore, the availability of Hilsha fish in the market is greeted by the consumers. In the market one kg weight Hilsha fish is being sold at Tk 1,200 to Tk 1,300 whereas one week earlier it was Tk 1, 400 to Tk 1, 600.
And 700-800 gram Hilsha is being sold at Tk 700-800 and 400-500 gram at Tk 450-500 while one week ago they were at Tk 900-1,000 and Tk 600-700 respectively.
The vegetables market scenario is that few vegetables price have increased as the result of fuel hike. In the list those are carrot, cucumber, tomato and French.
Carrot is being sold at Tk 130-140, cucumber at Tk 90-100, tomato at Tk 140-160.
In the vegetables market, the brinjal is being sold at Tk 50-60, cucarbitaceous at Tk 50-70, green papaya at Tk 30-40, parble at Tk 20-30, ladies figure at Tk 40-50.
Few vegetables’ price has remained stable.
They are spone gourd, snake gourd.
Besides, shrimp sells at Tk 600-650 only. The cat fish was selling at Tk 400 to 450 at Baganbari, South Goran on Friday, taki mach at Tk 350, Papda at Tk 400 and boal machh at Tk 600 only.
The prices of some of the commodities in Pabna and Rajshahi cities are being furnished hereunder as on Friday.
In Pabna, brinjal is being sold at Tk 30, Ladies finger at Tk 40, Pumpkin Tk 30, Parble Tk 40, spone gourd and snake gourd at Tk 30, Hilsha fish at Tk 800-1400 (1 kg), curp fish at Tk 300-400 and Rui fish at Tk 300-400.
In Rajshahi, brinjal is being sold at Tk 60, Bitter guard at Tk 100, Parble Tk 40, spone gourd and snake gourd at Tk 30, Hilsha fish at Tk 800-1800 (1 kg), Curp fish at Tk 300-600 and Rui fish at Tk 300-550.
