‘Govt capable to solve scarcity of physician’

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim today said the present government is capable to resolve the problems regarding scarcity of physician for the first time after independence of the country.
“Presently we are getting no more complaints regarding absence of doctors from rural hospitals. Village people are now getting healthcare at the rural health centers,” he said while inaugurating Asian Spinal Cord Network (ASCoN) conference at BRAC CDM Center here.
The minister said the government recruited 6,000 physicians and posted them in upazils and unions.
“Side by side, we requested members of parliament to monitor the doctors attendance in their respective areas,” he said.
A total of 58 delegates from 18 counties are taking part in the conference to discuss various matters related to spinal cord injuries.
Director General of Health Directorate Dr Din M Nurul Haque and founder of Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) Valerie Taylor also spoke on the occasion.
