BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir accused the government of showing less population in order to show higher GDP.
According to the Population and Housing Census 2022 published on Wednesday, the population size of Bangladesh is currently 165,158,616.
But Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that it is not correct account.
“The government deceived with the people in the name of population census,” BNP Secretary General said.
He said, “It called ‘Adam shumari’ worldwide, but this government marked it as Jonoshumari’. This government is standing on fraud and they deceive the people in every sector.”
Meanwhile, experts said that the government should have to delay the starting of population census till ending of the rainy season to get the real picture.
BNP Secretary General said, the government projected Hindu population less than one percent in this census.
“This practice has been taken place repeatedly with the minorities group of people,” Mirza Fakhrul said.
The BNP leader alleged that whenever the Awami League formed government, the Hindu people have been oppressed.
Mirza Fakhrul made the remark while disclosing a investigation report in a press conference in the party Chairperson’s Gulshan office on Wednesday over the attacking incidents against Hindus in Narail district recently.
A probe committee led by BNP Vice-President Nitai Roy Chowdhury, went to Narail and talked with the victims of the incidents.
“The ruling AL party men used to drive out Hindus from the country by attacking them repeatedly for snatching their assets,” Mirza Fakhrul said.
He demanded punishment of the attackers of the incident of Dighaliya village of Lohagora upazila in Narail.
The BNP leader said that such attacks have been taken place due to absence of democracy in the country.
“The government is conducting such attacks to divert people’s eyes in different directions from the demands of free and fair election,” Mirza Fakhrul said.
He said, “Even children cannot be safe from the attacks under this government. In Thakurgaon, a child was killed during a election conflict.”
Mirza Fakhrul demanded justice of the incident.
The BNP leader claimed that DU student Mahiuddin Rony’s movement over irregularities of Railway is a strategy of the government.
Anindya Islam Amit, Jayant Kumar Kundu, Advocate Fahima Nasreen Munni, Barrister Rumin Farhana MP, Amlendu Das Apu and Nipun Roy Chowdhury of BNP’s inquiry committee were present in the event.
