A traditional boat race was held at Basail Upazila in Tangail district amid festivity attended by several hundred people from far and near.
Basail Upazila Awami Ligue organised the boat race in the Chapra Beel (Bashulia) on Friday.
Boats with interesting names of different shapes took part in the competition from different upazilas of the district.
District Awami League general secretary and local parliament member Advocate Joaherul Islam Joaher was present as the chief guest.
Among others, Tangail district Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ataul Ghani and Superintendent of Police (SP) Sarkar Mohammad Qaiser attended the event.
Later, the chief guest distributed prizes among the winners of the boat race.
