Subhan’s counsel continues arguments

BSS, Dhaka :
Advocate Mizanul Islam, counsel for Jamaat leader Mawlana Abdus Subhan on Wednesday continued placing arguments at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2.
The defence counsel today argued on charge number 4, 8 and 9 of the total nine charges that were framed against the Jamaat nayeb-e-ameer. Advocate Islam however, fell short in concluding his factual arguments as he failed to finish his hearing on charge number 4.
After the day’s proceedings, the ICT-2 adjourned the hearing till tomorrow.
The defence is supposed to place their legal arguments on that day. Earlier, a total of 31 prosecution witnesses testified against Subhan, narrating the heinous crimes committed by the Jamaat leader during the War of Liberation. But none vouched for Subhan, although the tribunal allowed the defence to produce three defence witnesses.
The 78-year-old Jamaat nayeb-e-ameer was indicted on December 31, 2013, on 9 counts of crimes against humanity by the ICT-1. On March 27, 2014, the ICT-1 transferred the case to ICT-2 suo moto.
