ACC to sue Titas officials over Tk 20cr

Anti-corruption commission has given approval to file a case against several Titas gas officials on corruption charge of giving reconnections to 1247 clients erasing their arrear bills from computer, sources said.
Titas gas authority have severe connections with those clients. A big amount of bills and fines has remained unpaid Vatara and Kuril areas in the city.
But, they have gained the reconnections even without paying a single penny, ACC sources said.
It said that those clients got the reconnection through unholy dealings with some dishonest officials of the Titas gas.
About Tk 20 crore have been given to those officials by the clients for this reconnections.
Those against whom the case has been filed are Titas Deputy General Manager (DGM) Ratan Chandra Dey, Senior Security Guard Masud Rana, Abul Kalam Azad, Masudul Haque, Security Guard Wasim, Manager Rakib Uddin Sardar (Metering and Vigilance), Deputy Manager Md. Rezaul Karim (Revenue), Deputy Assistant Engineer Mohiuddin Jabed and Deputy Manager Rajab Ali and the owner of the contractor Messrs Sami Enterprise, Rakib Hossain.
According to Titas sources, these connections were restored through forgery between February 2 and February 5 in 2020 with the connivance of the accused.
