Criminal housemaids active in city DMP’s 14 advices to recruit domestic help

Criminals in disguise of housemaids are entering the residential quarters to steal valuable ornaments and goods in the capital. In many cases, house owners are being killed or injured by the so-called domestic worker if resistance is given.
The media and public relations department of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has made 14 recommendations to consider while hiring the domestic workers. The recommendations are as under:
1. Before hiring a housemaid / workman, national identity card, a fresh color photograph, identifier, identity of the person and his / her national identity card from him / her should be taken. 2. After collection of all the information, to be given to the nearest police station and to be retained. If he or she has committed any crime before, then the police can easily identify them.
3. collection of detailed information about where he or she worked before and try to find out the reason for leaving the job.
4. Get information about the housemaid / workman’s family members. To find out his permanent address and the family members.
If necessary, to rectify his permanent address if he really lives at that address.
5. At present, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police are working to protect the information of all the people of the city. Fill in the information of your maid / workman in the information form prescribed by DMP and submit it to the police station.
What to do after hiring a maid:
1. Watch his movements after the appointment. His behavior you may expose what kind of person he is.
2. Installation of CCTV cameras at the main gate of the house. This will make it easier to see if strangers are coming. If necessary, CCTV cameras can be installed inside the house, so that you can monitor the activities of the housemaid even in your absence.
3. Keep valuables, gold ornaments and money in the house out of eyes of the maid / workman. Always try to keep your locker key with you.
4. Everyone should not leave the house, leaving the housemaid / work man alone. Leave at least one more with the baby.
5. Try to understand the needs of the housemaid. It will be easy to know whether she is greedy or not.
6. Keep an eye on whether the housemaid is talking to the suspect on her mobile phone or if the suspect comes to see her.
7. Watch if the housekeeper / housemaid is cautious about using gas stoves, electric appliances in the house. Any major accident can happen as a result of carelessness.
8. Always carry the housemaid or workman with you when traveling. If he or she gets lost or has an accident, you will be in trouble.
9. Be kind to your housemaid. According to the DMP, only your awareness can stop the criminal activities of the housemaid.
It is better not to trust the maid / work boy too much. Keep an eye on them for your own good. Contact the nearest police station or outpost police for any of your needs and problems.
It is mentionable that on November 1, 2019, housewife Afroza Begum was stabbed to death for obstructing the looting of gold ornaments by her caretaker and housemaid at the apartment of Danmondhi. Another housemaid, Ditee, was also killed as she witnessed the murder.
