Create more scope for English medium students in universities: NU VC

National University Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Mashiur Rahman said that public universities should adopt an inclusive approach and create an equal opportunity in admission for English medium students.
He said, “If the universities can ensure equal participation of students from all medium of education, it will bring about positive change both in the academia and the society.”
The NU VC made this remarks while speaking at the centenary celebration programme of Dhaka University on Saturday at the university’s central playground.
Dr.Mashiur Rahman said the main reason behind DU’s political characteristics is that it played a crucial role in the creation of a nation state. But it must be turned into an ideal educational institution by adopting science-based modern approach.
“It is often said that madrasa students are getting more chance here. I’m not against that, because it reveals the university’s inclusive approach. But this approach should also be extended to the students of English-medium students,” opined the NU VC.
