Former JU Pro-VC Afsar Ahmad passes away

Former Pro-VC of Jahangirnagar University (JU), renowned poet and playwright Professor Dr Afsar Ahmad died of heart attack at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases(NICD) on Saturday. He breathed his last at around 1:30 p.m.
Professor Dr Esrafil Ahmed, Chairperson of Drama and Dramatics department, confirmed the matter.
Professor Dr Afsar Ahmad was born at Singair upazila of Manikganj district on September 30, 1959. Completing graduation and post-graduation from JU Bangla department, he joined as lecturer of the same department. Later, he founded Drama and Dramatics department at the university along with legendary playwright and dramatist Professor Selim Al Deen.
JU Vice-chancellor Professor Farzana Islam, JU Drama and Dramatics Department, JU Teachers Association, JU Journalists’ Association, Bangladesh Students’ Union JU Sangsad expressed profound shock and deep condolence in his sudden death.
