Housewife falls off rickshaw during snatching bid, dies
UNB, Dhaka :
A housewife died as she fell off a rickshaw when muggers tried to snatch her purse near Sobhanbagh Mosque under Dhanmondi Police Station in the city on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Ayesha Akhter Ripa, 27, wife of Md Shimul. She was residing at a house at Block-A of Lalmatia. Hospital sources said Ripa along with one of her relatives, Khan Mohammad Ibrahim, came to Dhaka early in the morning by a ‘Shyamoli Paribahan’ bus.
When they were returning to Lalmatia by a rickshaw after getting down from the bus at its Panthapath counter around 6:30am, a group of muggers in a microbus suddenly pulled the wallet of Ripa near the Sobhanbagh Mosque at about 6:45 am.
Under the impact of the pulling, the housewife fell onto the street and received fatal head injuries.
Ripa was rushed to Bangladesh Medical College Hospital in Dhanmondi where on-duty doctor pronounced her dead.
Later, her body was taken to Sobhanbagh Mosque from where Dhanmondi thana police recovered it and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.
