Brothers Union no more in BPL Football

Traditional outfit Brothers Union have been relegated from Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football. The Gopibagh-based popular outfit lost to Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra by four goals to nil at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on the same day. Brothers Union collected six points from 21 matches. Brothers Union have three matches in the hand. But if Brothers win rest of the three matches, they cannot avoid relegation. Arambagh Krira Sangha have been relegated from Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football. Arambagh earned five points from 21 outings.
Brothers Union played in the First Division Football League ( the most prestigious domestic football competition of the country) from 1975. Then they played Senior Divi

sion Football League, Bangladesh Premier league. Brothers Union became joint-champions in the Federation Cup in 1980. The All-Orange outfit won the DHAMFA Cup in 2003-2004 season. Brothers Union failed to become the champions in the First Division Football League as the fortune doesn’t favour them in 1985.
From the very beginning Gafur Baluch was the coach of Brothers Union. Star footballers like Selim, Wasim Iqbal, Hasanuzzaman Khan Bablu, Mohsin, Ajmot, Abdus Salam played for this club. After the Independence, Brothers Union were the only team which emerged joint-champions in the Aga Khan Gold Cup. In the year of 1981, Brothers Union jointly clinched the Aga Khan Gold Cup. Captain of that squad Abdus Salam said, ” Our achievement, dedication everything became faded. Brothers Union will play in the second tier football competition after this year, it is very painful to me.”
Hasanuzzaman Khan Bablu said, ” We beat Abahani Krira Chakra by a solitary goal in the first match of the First Division Football League. The condition of Brothers Union was not up to the mark for last ten years. But at last they were relegated.” Bablu burst into tear after he watching the relegation match of Brothers Union on television on Tuesday.
It is a sorrow incident for Bangladesh’s football that Brothers Union have been relegated from Bangladesh Premier League Football.
