Former minister Mannan`s wife granted bail

Court Correspondent :The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday (Thursday) granted bail to Syeda Hasina Sultana, wife of former State Minister for Housing and Public Works Abdul Mannan Khan, in a case filed on charge of accumulating wealth through illegal means.Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan of the CMM Court granted the bail on a bond of Tk 20,000, after she had surrendered to his court seeking bail in the case.Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) DeputyDirector Nasir Uddin filed the case against Syeda Hasina Sultana with Ramna Model Police Station under the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2004 on Tuesday on charge of acquiring wealth illegally.According to the First Information Report (FIR), Hasina Sultana accumulated wealth worth Tk 3,45,53,640.5 illegally.Earlier, she submitted her wealth statement to the ACC and the anti-graft watchdog found that she concealed wealth information worth Tk 1.86 crore in her wealth report.On August 21, 2014, the ACC also filed a case against former Awami League State Minister Mannan Khan on charge of amassing wealth worth Tk 79 lakh.
