Young man’s severed body parts found in septic tank

Staff Reporter :
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered the severed body parts of a young man from a septic tank of a mosque in city’s Dakshinkhan Police Station area on Tuesday noon.
Deceased Azharul Islam, 35, worked at a RMG factory in the area. He alongwith his family lived in a rented house in Sarderbari area.
Dakshinkhan Police Station inspector (investigation) Azizul Haque said Azharul left the house in the morning of May 20 for his workplace. Since then, the family members did not find his whereabouts. They informed the matter to the RAB. However, the RAB detained Abdur Rahim, an imam of the mosque, in this connection. Gleaning information from him, the elite force, later, recovered six parts of the body-two hands, two legs, head and other parts— from the septic tank of the mosque, said inspector Azizul. During initial questioning, Abdur Rahim confessed to the killing, said inspector Azizul.
He used to visit Azharul’s house as they had good relationship. During several visits, he had developed an emotional relationship with Azharul’s wife.
For this, the Imam had planned to kill Azharul for removing a barrier to his intimate relationship, Abdur Rahim allegedly said during the quizzing.
