Modi pays homage to Liberation War heroes

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid homage to the martyrs of the Great Liberation War at the National Memorial in Savar. He paid homage by placing a wreath at the altar of the memorial on Friday.

Earlier, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Dhaka in the morning on a two-day state visit to attend the celebration program of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh’s Independence.
A plane carrying him landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 10:38 am on Friday. On his arrival at the airport, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received her Indian counterpart at the airport. To welcome Narendra Modi, a red carpet was rolled out at the airport.
A smartly-turned out contingent drawn from the Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Force gave a guard of honour to the Indian premier.
According to the schedule, Modi will pay homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu after paying homage to the martyrs at Savar Memorial. In the afternoon, he will address at the National Parade Ground. Modi will visit Satkhira and Gopalganj, although it is not common for foreign top leaders to travel outside Dhaka.
