One put on 2-day remand
UNB, Tangail :
A court here on Sunday placed Badaruddin, uncle of prime accused Jahangir Hossain, on a two-day remand in
connection with the arson attack that left a woman and her three daughters dead at Sohagpara village in Mirzapur upazila.
The Senior Judicial Magistrate passed the order when Shyamol Kumar Dutta, sub-inspector of Mirzapur Police Station
and also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.
Earlier, police arrested Badaruddin from Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur district early Saturday.
With this, a total of 10 people have so far been arrested in connection with the arson attack.
The arrestees were identified as Jahangir’s younger brother Abu Hanif, friend Sushanta Kumar Roy, uncle Nannu Miah, cousin Badsha Miah, rickshaw-puller Mohammad Ali, manager of local Maasranga Filling Station Mir Azadul Islam, its cashier Abul Bashar, supervisor Wasim Miah and lineman Abdul Mannan.
Hasna Begum, 30, wife of Mujibur Rahman, a Malaysia expatriate, and their daughters – Mariam, 14, Mali, 4, Mim 6, of South Sohagpara village were burned to death early Tuesday as miscreants set fire to their house following previous enmity.
Mofazzal Hossain, brother of victim Hasna, filed a case against 11 people including Jahangir, with Mirzapur Police Station.
