Pro-BNP panel for SCBA election announced

Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, a platform of pro-BNP lawyers, on Monday night announced its panel for the upcoming election of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).
Member-Secretary of the Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum’s central committee Advocate Md Fazlur Rahman will contest in the post of the President and forum’s convening committee member Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal will fight for the Secretary post.
The decision was taken in a meeting held at the BNP’s central office in the capital’s Naya Paltan on Sunday (February 14) night.
Advocate Zainal Abedin Tuhin and Advocate Jalal Ahmed will contest in the two posts of Vice President, Advocate Mahmud Hassan and Advocate Rashida Alim Oishee will vie in the two posts of Assistant Secretary and Advocate Abdullah Al Mahbub will appear for the post of Treasurer from the panel.
Lawyers Monjurl Alam Sujan, Shafiqul Islam Shafiq, Golam Mostafa Zakir, Perveen Kawser Munni, Redwan Ahmed Ranjib, Niaz Muhammad Mahbub and Iftekhar Ahmed will appear for the seven posts of executive member from the panel.
The SCBA poll is likely to be held on March 11 and 12.
Pro-Awami League lawyers’ forum ‘Sammilita Ainjibi Samannay Parishad (SASP)’ on February 13 announced its panel for the election.
In the last election 14 posts, including the major posts, were sharply divided between the main two panels.
Ruling Awami League backed Sammilita Ainjibi Samannay Parisad had secured six posts including the posts of the president, one vice president, two assistant secretaries and two executive members and Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum secured rests.
