Remittance inflow up by 22pc

Expatriate Bangladeshis sent home 22 percent more money in the first quarter of the current fiscal compared to the same period last year.
In September, Bangladesh received $1.32 billion in remittance, Bangladesh Bank’s Forex Reserve and Treasury Management Division’s General Manager Kazi Saidur Rahman said on Thursday.
The forex reserves rose close to $22 billion, thanks to the buoyant inflow, he said.
In July, Bangladesh received a record $1.49 billion in remittances, the highest for any one month.
Remittance has been the lifeblood of Bangladesh’s economy.
The country received over $14 billion in remittance in the last fiscal.
