Iran eyeing 2027 AFC Asian Cup
Iran’s Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports said Wednesday he is hopeful that the country will win the right to host the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. Masoud Soltanifar said that Iran’s sporting infrastructure and footballing status in Asia would further improve if the country hosted the continent’s showpiece international tournament, according to the IRNA news agency. Iran has suitable stadiums in Tehran, Tabriz, Ahvaz, Isfahan and Mashhad, and its hotels and airports are well equipped to stage the event, he added. Iran will compete with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, India and Uzbekistan for the right to host the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
