Eid special launch service starts with 18 triple-deck vessels on Barisal-Dhaka route

Thirteen-day Eid special triple-deck private launch services on Barisal-Dhaka -Barisal route started on Thursday from Dhaka-end and arranged on Friday from Barisal executing 20-25 percent increased ‘festival fare’ chart in comparison of the normal period.
Saidur Rahman Rintu , AL leader, owner of triple-deck ‘Sundarban’ launch fleet and central vice president of launch owners association, said normally 4-5 triple deck launches placed for trip on each day from Dhaka and Barisal.
It increased to 11-vessels from Dhaka-end on Thursday October 2 and 15-vessels from Dhaka-end on Friday October 3 by giving double trip. Same procedure will repeat from Barisal-end one-day after Eid festival, Rintu said.
Besides every day at least three-triple deck vessels will ply to Jhalakathi, Barguna and Patuakhali via Barisal port. River traffic police and Coast Guard teams deployed to ensure safety and security of the water transport passengers and vessels, said Murad Ahmed, journalist and member of the concerned committee formed in this connection.
Highest rush of passengers expected on October 2,3,4,5 from Dhaka and October 8,9,10,11 from Barisal ends.
Passengers of of private triple-deck water transports have to pay 20-25 percent increased special ‘festival fare’ as Tk. 1,100 for per first class cabin seat, Tk.600 per sofa and Tk. 250 per deck seat.
We take this fare only for two-weeks during Eid Ul Fitr and two-weeks during Eid Ul Azha festival-trips on basis of the fare-chart fixed by BIWTA to cover the losses of reduced competitive fare chart in other times round the year, the launch owner’s association leader Rintu claimed.
There is no system of advance booking for deck seats of water transports and advance cabin tickets on Barisal-Dhaka-Barisal route sold out two weeks before starting of the special trips.
