Obituary

Distinguished cultural organiser and General Secretary of Tamaddun Majlish, the founding organisation of Language Movement Mohammad Shahabuddin Khan passed away on Wednesday,16th September, 20 at 11.45pm while under treatment in the Dhaka CMH. He was 75.He has been buried on Thursday, 17th September in the Panchtola graveyard, East Badda, Dhaka. He left behind two sons, two daughters, grandsons and granddaughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
The son of a respected family of Daokathi, Bakerganj of Barishal, Shahabuddin Khan was connected with many cultural organisations including Nazrul Academy, Dhaka, where he contributed five decades upholding Great Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, the National Poet of Bangladesh.
In a condolence message the veteran Bhasha Soinik Prof. Abdul Ghafur, the President of the Guardian Council of Tamaddun Majlish ;and Dr. Mohammad Siddik, President of the Central Committee of Tamaddun Majlish expressed deep shock at the death of this dedicated organiser who upheld national culture. They conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
