Regent Shahed placed on fresh 6-day remand

Regent Group Chairman Mohammad Shahed was yesterday placed on a six-day remand in a case filed on the charges of not paying house rent for an amount of Taka 45 lakh.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Masud-Ur-Rahman of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order after he was produced in court on Wednesday. Sub-Inspector of Pallabi Police Station Md Farukuzzaman Mollick, the Investigation Officer of the case, earlier sought remand for 10 days.

Firoz Alam Chowdhury, a house owner, filed the case against Shahed on July 13 with Pallabi Police Station of the city accusing
him of not paying house rent amounting to Tk 45 lakh.
According to the case statement, Shahed rented four floors measuring 16,148 square feet on May 8, 2016 for his “Regent Hospital Limited” in Pallabi area. The house rent was fixed at Tk 2.5 lakh per month.
But Shahed did not pay the rent from May 8, 2016 to March 12, 2020 and the outstanding amount is now over Tk 45 lakh.
