BNP-led hartal observed

After end of the second phase hartal programme of Jamaat -Shibir on Sunday , the daylong hartal of the BNP-led 20 party alliance passed off peacefully without any major incidents in the city aand all upazilas s of the district yesterday.
The impact of the hartal not affected any civic life .No spontaneous response witnessed in the call in port city yesterday BNP led alliance called 24-hours hartal from yesterday morning protesting the 16th amendment of constitution and the abrogation of all black laws passed by JS during the tenure of the present govt.A pre-hartal rally was held in front of the BNP city office on Sunday with Shamsul Islam in the chair.
The speakers in the rally protested the pass of the bill relates to impeachment of Justices by the law makers which is the preplanning for establishing one party rule like Baksal . Following the 16th amendment of the constitution, the justices will be barred from independent judgement following the fear of the impeachment against them by the one party parliament. The speakers in the protest rally infront of Nasimon bhaban office yesterday morning said the present illegal sangsad can not pass the constitution amendment bill.
Proest rally and procession held from party office premises yesterday morning while the Chhatra Dal arranged protest meeting at Kazir Dewri in the morning. Besides, University Chhatra Dal unit also arranged protest meeting at Solashar Biplob Uddayan premises in the morning. .No hartal picketers seen anywhere in the city Limited numbers of light vehicles, rickshaws, city buses seen plying in the city but heavy transports like transport trucks and lorries went off roads .
Private cars and taxis are not visible in the road.
The commuters faces somehow miseries following the limited numbers of rickshaws and the light vehicles in the roads. The long route and the inter district passenger buses remain stranded in the terminals. The trains left Chittagong to other destinations without any obstructions.
Loading, unloading in port remained normal but no consignment delivered outside the port areas. All educational institutions remained closed but mills , factories remained opened partially during the hartal day, different soruces said. All kitchen markets, maximum posh markets remained open from 10 am.
Additional Deputy police commissioner Md.Hasan Chowdhury told that no untoward incidents were occurred in anywhere in the city and they did not get any types of nuisances and anarchy by the cadres of Shibir as yet.
Moreover additional police forces have been deployed in most important points of the city and the BGB forces seen patrolling in the city, he said. All types of private and public offices, banks, insurance company offices functioned normally without any resistance .
